The Environment

The Lindsay Downtown Business Improvement Association is an association of businesses within a geographic area of Downtown Lindsay dedicated to the growth, prosperity and preservation of the downtown. The LDBIA is a Municipal Board of City of Kawartha Lakes Council (By-Law 2008-212). In all its endeavours the Lindsay Downtown BIA holds first in priority the health, vitality, environment and economic stability of the downtown business community. The Board of Directors of the BIA functions as a coordinating body to address the members' needs by acting as an advocacy group on behalf of downtown businesses; providing financial commitment for the beautification, improvement and maintenance of the downtown area; marketing and coordinating special events to promote the downtown area; developing strategic partnerships with other groups for mutual benefit.

Position Overview

The Marketing & Events Coordinator is responsible for the marketing initiatives, promotions, events and social media strategies and implementation to achieve the above stated goals. Reporting the Executive Director and the Marketing Committee Chair, the Coordinator will execute the tasks set out by the Board of Directors and Marketing Committee. This position will also manage the business database and be familiar with the membership of downtown businesses, updating all changes to the business landscape in necessary forums.

Skills

The Marketing & Events Coordinator is an energetic, creative visionary and self-motivated professional with exceptional personal and communication skills, experience with social media management, event planning and execution, and marketing initiatives. They are eloquent in both oral and written communication, organized, and have exceptional administrative and technological skills.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Event Coordination (MOST IMPORTANT) - Advertising, promotion, publicity and management of all programs and services including concept, development, design, production, events evaluation and analysis.

Social Media – assist in developing strategies, implementation of strategies, development of posts, and operation and maintenance of all associated social media accounts.

Website – maintenance and updates of all web content, so that the site is an excellent and accurate representation of the organization and its activities.

Business Database – Updating the detailed business database as necessary, contacting new businesses, and making changes to business listings as necessary, and on all necessary platforms.

Schedule of Work

Monday-Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm. These days can be structured as a combination of office work and community outreach in the downtown, totaling 35 hours per week.

Days and hours of work may be approved by the Executive Director for the purpose of attending meetings, professional development activities, coordinating events, and attending community events that would be beneficial to the organization to have representation.

Job Types: Permanent, Full-time

Salary: $20.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate: Lindsay, ON K9V 6G7: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience: Marketing: 1 year (preferred)
